[ Crane can't figure out Moriarty and that bothers him--bothers him a lot. It's the reason why he's up when he shouldn't be, sleep schedule messed, and it's the fourth or fifth time he's paced his own room that he fires a text off to one Jim Moriarty. ]

My place when you're available.

[ Nothing else. He's at least figured that no matter the circumstances Moriarty will come at his own leisure. The best he can do is wait. ]

The smug smile was impossible to move off of Crane's lips as he lead his new found 'bodyguard' in. He'd wanted someone that could stand up to Batman, and he'd found it in the Slayer known as Tillman. Of course he'd need to research how, exactly, Castle got him to respond to commands in a just fashion but Crane had no intention of controlling the other. It would be a waste of time. No, he just wanted a guard that had hopes of keeping his business uninterrupted.

Crane's abode, like how he dressed, was purposely mute, drab, and intentionally simple. Crane didn't want to step out or be noticed--he spent most of his life trying to avoid it. Trying to avoid his vast intellect. He didn't bother to check if Tillman was coming in--he knew he was trailing behind him.

Crane had released Tillman, true to his word, the very next day. He'd silently driven the other towards his abode, saying very little but instead watching him closely. He didn't trust Tillman--and knew the other most likely distrusted him as well. If he was smart.

"Your new life begins. I wish I could let you rest in something other than a cell, but we have work to do."

The bat-man.

The very name made Johnathan Crane twitch, even though he wasn't even in Gotham. The roads were dusty, dingy. Difficult. But he'd personally requested to assess the Slayers, and Castle, upon hearing he was one of the brightest minds in Arkham, readily agreed.

'So long as none of my beauties go missing, huh?'

And of course, Crane had promised. Crane was a man of his word. None of them would go missing, because Crane had no intention. He had his eye on one Slayer and one Slayer only.

It was long and arduous and by the time he arrived at the prison compound he could already feel the headache spreading from his temples all the way to the bridge of his nose. The other interviews didn't help, either--clinically diagnosing those he already knew to be insane.

But, finally, the room was empty and Crane was left with just his paperwork and his headache.

"Dr. Crane?"

He looked up, brows raised.

"Kable is outside."

"Good. Send him in."

THINGS:
obsession with fear? (parallel to batman's bat)
why gas?
takes glasses off a lot-reason?

POWERS:
The Scarecrow uses a variety of toxins that cause his victims to hallucinate that their phobias have come to life. He wears his Scarecrow mask to enhance the effect of the hallucinogen (instilling fear in all who see him) as well as to avoid being poisoned by his own toxin. Although not physically intimidating, Scarecrow can resort to physical combat, using a style called "violent dancing", based partly on the crane style of kung fu and on drunken boxing.
The Scarecrow is an expert in psychology, with a focus on fear, and is a former certified professor on the subject. Due to prolonged exposure to his own gas, Scarecrow went from being frightened of bats to only being frightened of Batman. Scarecrow is both addicted to fear and incapable of fearing anything except Batman, whom he compulsively seeks in order to ease his addiction after the Caped Crusader's apparent death.[14] Scarecrow is chosen as a bearer of the twin of Sinestro's yellow ring as a temporary Corpsman, giving him the powers of a member of the Sinestro Corps.

Weapons

The Scarecrow at times wields a scythe which he uses in addition to his 'violent dancing'. Scarecrow also uses a hand-held fear gas sprayer in the shape of a human skull, straws which he leaves as a calling card, special straws which can be snapped in half to release a fear toxin (as seen in Batman: Hush), stuffed scarecrows which scare his victims, and a Sinestro Corps ring (as seen in the Blackest Night mini-series). In the Batman video game Batman: Arkham Asylum he has needles strapped to each of his fingers on his right hand with which he injects his fear toxins into his victim.
